L’opposant français Jean-Luc Mélenchon, président de La France insoumise, a exprimé, ce lundi 11 août 2025, son soutien à l’opposition ivoirienne, au lendemain de la grande marche organisée à Abidjan par le Front commun PDCI-PPA-CI et ses alliés.
Cette marche de protestation qui a eu lieu à Yopougon, la plus grande commune du pays, visait à dénoncer la candidature du président Alassane Ouattara à un quatrième mandat et à exiger la réintégration des dirigeants politiques exclus de la course présidentielle. « Soutien au peuple ivoirien démocratique qui refuse la présidence à vie d’Alassane Ouattara, exige la détente des opposants et le rétablissement de leurs droits à la candidature. La France ne doit plus se mêler des élections en Côte d’Ivoire. », a posté Jean-Luc Mélenchon sur le réseau social X (ex-Twitter).
Un soutien qui résonne dans un climat tendu
La prise de position du leader de la gauche française intervient dans un contexte politique particulièrement tendu en Côte d’Ivoire. À moins de trois mois de l’élection présidentielle prévue le 25 octobre 2025, plusieurs figures majeures de l’opposition, dont Laurent Gbagbo, Charles Blé Goudé, Guillaume Soro et plus récemment Tidjane Thiam, sont exclus du processus électoral en raison de condamnations judiciaires controversées.

En demandant à la France de « ne plus se mêler des élections » en Côte d’Ivoire, Jean-Luc Mélenchon s’adresse directement aux autorités françaises, souvent accusées par une partie de l’opinion ivoirienne d’ingérence politique. Historiquement, la Côte d’Ivoire entretient des liens étroits avec son ancienne puissance coloniale, mais ces relations sont régulièrement au centre de polémiques, notamment lors des périodes électorales.
Les raisons d’une candidature
De son côté, Alassane Ouattara justifie sa candidature par la nécessité de préserver la stabilité face aux « menaces sécuritaires, économiques et monétaires sans précédent ».
Le RHDP, son parti, appelle l’opposition à désigner des candidats éligibles plutôt qu’à contester les règles du jeu.
