Le gouvernement ivoirien a adopté, en Conseil des ministres, un décret portant création, attributions, organisation et fonctionnement de l’Agence spatiale ivoirienne (ASCI), un établissement public à caractère administratif, scientifique et technologique, placé sous la tutelle du ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche scientifique, en liaison avec les ministères concernés.
L’information a été livrée par le porte-parole du gouvernement, Amadou Coulibaly, le mercredi 4 juin 2025, lors du compte rendu du conseil des ministres.
Selon M. Coulibaly, l’ASCI est créée en vue de l’exploitation et de l’utilisation pacifique de l’espace. Elle est chargée de renforcer les capacités nationales et de mettre en place les infrastructures nécessaires au développement du secteur spatial en Côte d’Ivoire.
Les missions de l’Agence s’étendent aux principaux domaines d’application de l’espace, notamment l’observation de la terre, la météorologie spatiale, l’astronomie, l’exploration spatiale, la navigation et la communication par satellite.
À travers cette initiative, l’État ambitionne de répondre efficacement aux enjeux du développement économique, de la sécurisation du territoire national et de la protection de l’environnement, grâce à l’appropriation des technologies spatiales.
