Depuis quelque temps, l’administration pénitentiaire a engagé une lutte acharnée contre l’introduction et la circulation des substances interdites, notamment de la drogue, dans les établissements pénitentiaires de Côte d’Ivoire.
Ainsi, diverses quantités de drogue ont été saisies à la Maison d’Arrêt et de Correction de Bouaké, à la Maison Pénale de Bouaké et récemment au Pôle Pénitentiaire d’Abidjan.
Dans le cadre de cette lutte, le Directeur de l’Administration Pénitentiaire a pris, conformément à l’article 12 de l’arrêté n°209/MJDH/DAP du 18 août 2023 portant création du Pôle Pénitentiaire d’Abidjan, la note de service n°127/MJDH/DAP du 21 février 2025, pour réglementer la gestion des espaces communs, notamment de la cour centrale de promenade, devenue le principal lieu de tous les trafics.
C’est à l’application de cette mesure que, ce lundi 14 avril 2025, des détenus se sont opposés, allant jusqu’à démolir certaines installations, notamment les grilles de séparation des différents établissements pénitentiaires.
Grâce au professionnalisme des agents pénitentiaires appuyés par la Police et la Gendarmerie Nationales, l’ordre a été rétabli et le calme ramené au pôle pénitentiaire.
L’opération de rétablissement de l’ordre n’a occasionné aucun mort. Toutefois, il est à déplorer douze (12) blessés parmi les détenus. Ils ont été pris immédiatement en charge par les services de santé.
