Depuis le début du mois de juin 2025, le Parti Démocratique de Côte d’Ivoire (PDCI-RDA) fait face à une vague de pressions judiciaires sans précédent. Cinq de ses jeunes responsables sont aujourd’hui sous les verrous. Et le silence prolongé de son porte-parole, Soumaïla Brédoumy Traoré, alimente toutes les spéculations. L’homme, réputé pour ses prises de parole tranchées, est devenu introuvable, faisant craindre une escalade politique aux relents judiciaires.
Selon des informations rapportées par le journal Le Monde, Brédoumy Soumaïla Traoré aurait quitté la Côte d’Ivoire « ces derniers jours pour éviter une arrestation ». Une fuite que ni le parti ni ses proches ne confirment officiellement, mais qui, dans le contexte actuel, semble plausible.
Des inquiétudes concrétisées avec une série d’arrestations
Depuis plusieurs semaines, des rumeurs persistantes évoquent un ciblage méthodique de plusieurs cadres du PDCI-RDA. Ces inquiétudes se sont concrétisées avec une série d’arrestations touchant la jeunesse du parti.
Innocent Yao, responsable de la jeunesse rurale, a été le premier à être arrêté. Il est aujourd’hui inculpé pour « atteinte à la sûreté de l’État » dans une affaire qui remonte à la présidentielle de 2020. Selon certaines sources judiciaires, son dossier aurait été réactivé récemment, à la faveur d’un climat politique redevenu tendu en perspective de la présidentielle de 2025.

Quatre autres jeunes du parti ont ensuite été interpellés. En cause : une vidéo relayée sur les réseaux sociaux, dans laquelle Henri Joël-Ndri Kouadio, président de la branche scolaire et universitaire du PDCI, appelait à une mobilisation pour un meeting en mai. Un appel jugé subversif par les autorités, mais que les avocats de la défense estiment relever du droit à la liberté d’expression.
La tension ne faiblit pas. Deux autres jeunes militants du parti affirment avoir échappé à des « tentatives d’enlèvement » à leurs domiciles, selon toujours Le Monde. Le cas du médecin Osman Chérif, secrétaire national aux affaires extérieures de la JPDCI Urbaine, est particulièrement inquiétant. Bien qu’il n’ait pas participé à la vidéo incriminée, il aurait choisi l’exil après avoir reçu des menaces sérieuses. Un véhicule aux vitres teintées se serait arrêté devant son domicile dans la nuit du 10 au 11 juillet. Deux hommes vêtus de noir auraient tenté d’y pénétrer de force, déclenchant sa fuite précipitée.
Une stupeur mêlée d’inquiétude
Au siège du PDCI, c’est la stupeur mêlée d’inquiétude. Le parti n’a pas encore réagi officiellement à la disparition de Brédoumy Traoré, mais en coulisses, certains s’interrogent sur une « tentative de décapitation politique » visant à affaiblir la formation en pleine restructuration autour de son nouveau président, Tidjane Thiam.
À l’approche de l’élection présidentielle de 2025, ces événements ravivent le spectre d’une justice perçue comme instrumentalisée par les opposants. Plusieurs organisations de défense des droits humains appellent à la retenue et à la transparence dans les procédures engagées contre les membres de l’opposition.
En attendant, une question reste entière : où se cache Soumaïla Brédoumy Traoré ? Son silence est perçu comme un indicateur alarmant de la situation politique actuelle.
